TCU star Jacob Fields put his own teammate in the hospital — and got kicked off the team for it. But the full story is darker than one fight.
Safety Jacob Fields came to TCU as a transfer out of Louisiana Tech, where he was named CUSA Co-Defensive Player of the Year. He was supposed to replace an NFL draft pick in the secondary. Instead, his Horned Frogs career lasted barely a month.
According to sources close to the situation, Fields says he was targeted from the moment he arrived — insulted, threatened, and spit on by a teammate during fall camp. He said he went to the coaching staff multiple times and begged them to step in. Nothing happened.
So on August 13, in the TCU locker room, he handled it himself. Police logs show an aggravated assault was reported at the John Justin locker rooms the next day. The teammate ended up hospitalized. Fields ended up dismissed from the team.
The debate people are having right now: was Fields the villain, or the victim pushed past his breaking point? And does the alleged bully still being on the roster tell you everything about how serious TCU took it?
